Consideration

consideration

Today, I am reminded that without awareness, despite the best intentions, I can be a producer of disturbance rather than harmony. It takes a great deal of consciousness to speak and act in a way that makes a contribution to others and the world.

That brings up the idea of consideration, which is not simply to be kind, rather to “consider” what one says and does with regard to another. Perhaps someone needs a nudge. Perhaps another would benefit from nothing but solace. Maybe the time is right for an uncomfortable truth to be revealed. On the other hand, it may be that listening would be best.

We cannot know the means of being considerate unless we are able to pay attention…not just to others, but to our own inner guidance.
