Changing Perspective

In the last excerpt, we saw the co-opting of a powerful symbol, specifically the crucifix, which when inverted creates an even more powerful symbol, Christianity in distress as we shall soon see with the emergence of an added plot twist.

A foundational principle of transformation is in what some traditions call a “conscious shock.” When an image or idea is presented in an altered fashion it has the potential to “shock” us into a new perspective and perhaps into deeper understanding.  Indeed, the real meaning of metanoia, which is conventionally translated as repentance, is in fact change of mind and heart. This notion is the basis of transformation…to see, feel and understand differently.

Let us never forget that at the core of redemption is change of mind and heart which can only come with a changed perspective.
