The Story within the Story

There is a moment of clarity that comes for Kevin Pitcairn when yesterday’s blog of an episode of childhood violence is revealed. Suddenly aspects of his life make sense in ways never before possible. While there is an initial burst of unpleasant feeling, as with all revealed truth a psychic shift occurs for him.

This is the reason the theme emerges from many wise men and women. “Seek first to understand,” are the words of Stephen Covey. Said Maya Angelou, “I did then what I knew how to do. Now that I know better, I do better.” “To understand all is to forgive all,” says the French proverb.

There is always a story within a story. And often, even another story within that. These stories hold within them the seeds of transformation … and redemption as well. For Pitcairn, this is the beginning of an unraveling that holds forth great promise.
